Our story

Oaklane Glamping was always a dream of ours in one form or another since taking over the farm here at Mucksna over 20 years ago. Declan is a driving instructor and part time farmer, and Catriona has worked for over 30 years in the hospitality industry in some of the finest resorts in Kerry. As glamping and alternative style accommodation has become increasingly popular among all ages, and with the wonderful location of our farm, we came about the idea of individual luxury cabins with complete privacy, for adults only.

Keeping this a very small and quiet site with a unique experience is what we want to offer our guests. As the saying goes, “A day outside Kerry is a day wasted” — we allow that to include Cork, our beautiful neighbouring county, which Kenmare is so close to and where Catriona is from. We know this area of Kerry on the Wild Atlantic Way is already popular with visitors seeking real natural beauty, wonderful hiking on the Kerry and Beara Way, Killarney National Park, cycling the quiet backroads, touring the Ring of Kerry or the Beara Peninsula, and some of the best cafes and restaurants in the country. It makes the ideal base for a great escape to South West Ireland and the Wild Atlantic Way.

Kenmare was recently listed by CNN Travel as one of Europe’s most beautiful towns. Declan loves to cycle, trail run and hike, and Catriona knows some great hiking trails and sea swims all year round. Ask her about the hidden spots away from the crowds and she will tell you. We are also delighted to help with recommendations for places to eat and drink in Kenmare, of which there are many.
